Isaiah´s Prophesies Concerning The Birth Of Jesus

He announced the birth of Jesus
He wrote about the life of Jesus
He described the death of Jesus
He Prophesied the coming kingdom of Jesus

In our text today we see Isaiah´s revelation of the many names of Jesus.

Wonderful
Counselor
The Mighty God
The Everlasting Father
The Prince Of Peace

We are beginning a series on the these names

His name shall be called Wonderful

Lets look at 4 wonderful things about Jesus!

Jesus Was Wonderful at His Birth

A virgin shall conceive

Isaiah´s prophecy of the miraculous birth

Mary´s confusion and Gabriel´s reassuring answer

The virgin birth was a miracle

There were other miracles at His birth

The angelic appearances to Mary, Joseph and shepherds

A word of wisdom    Don´t try to explain the miracles of Christmas

Jesus was Wonderful in His Life

The wonderful baby in the manger was a miracle

But folks, Jesus is no longer in the manger
The birth was only part of His great plan

You see , we no longer worship a babe in a manger

We worship the sinless Savior who meets people in crises Like The Word Says:

He is like a hiding place from the wind
He is like a covert from the tempest
He is like the rivers of water in a dry place
He is like the shadow of a great rock in a weary land

He will meet you in your crises and deliver you

Jesus was Wonderful in His Death

read Isaiah 53

All die because of sin   Hebrews 9:27

Jesus was sinless and died for sinners

Jesus died as our substitute carrying our sorrows

Jesus Will be Wonderful in His Coming Kingdom

read Isaiah 35

The One who died and rose again will come again

When He comes to reign the promise to Mary will be fulfilled

He shall reign forever and ever
Of His kingdom there will be no end

Conclusion

Is Jesus Wonderful to you?

Trust Him and you will find Him Wonderful too

³³ And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
³⁴ Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
³⁵ And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
³⁶ And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
³⁷ For with God nothing shall be impossible.
³⁸ And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

⁹ No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:
¹⁰ And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
² For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
³ He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
⁴ Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
⁵ But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
⁷ He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
⁸ He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
⁹ And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
¹⁰ Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
¹¹ He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
¹² Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong;

Matthew 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
² Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
³ When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
⁴ And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
⁵ And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
⁶ And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
⁷ Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
⁸ And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
⁹ When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
¹⁰ When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
¹¹ And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
¹² And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
¹³ And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream,
saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
¹⁴ When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
¹⁵ And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
¹⁶ Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
¹⁷ Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,
¹⁸ In Ramah was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
¹⁹ But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
²⁰ Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child´s life.
²¹ And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
²² But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
²³ And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
