From Profession To Perfection

The Christian Life Begins With New Birth

My little children   1 John 2:1
We are born again through faith in Christ. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.

God Wants Us To Be Confident Of Our Salvation

Know is found forty times in this epistle
There is joy in knowing we are children of God

We are going to look at 3 words for the family of God.

Profession
Progression
Perfection
1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Profession

He that saith he abideth in him

We seem to downplay the importance of profession

Someone once said I´d rather see a sermon than hear one any day.
Quiet faith preferred by many to zealous witnessing

We are to give testimony to our faith

Believe and confess   Romans 10:9
Baptism as a means to public witness
Church attendance shows our priorities

We are to be His witnesses  read Acts 1:8

Progression

Ought himself also so to walk

Believers are people on the move
Our walk should confirm our talk

Abiding in Christ should show in our walk

Parents are pleased when a child starts walking

So, how should we walk?

Walk Honestly   Romans 13:13
Walk in the Spirit   Galatians 5:16
Walk in Love   Ephesians 5:2
Walk Circumspectly   Ephesians 5:15
Walk in Faith   Colossians 2:6
Walk in Wisdom, redeeming the Time   Colossians 4:5

How are you progressing in the Christian life?

Perfection

Even as He walked

We have a great example to follow

We are not perfect, but Jesus is  1 Peter 2:21-25

Others fail, Jesus doesn´t
Focus on Jesus, not the faults of others

In looking to Jesus, we can be victorious  Hebrews 12:2

When we meet Jesus we will be like Him  1 John 3:2

Conclusion

We Need To Make 3 Commitments Today To Make A Difference In Our Walk

I Will Not Look At The Faults Of Others
I Will Look For Evidences Of Christ likeness In Others
I Will Keep Looking To My perfect Savior

Let´s make these life changing commitments today!!
