A Manger Instead of a Mansion

Luke 2:7    Listen to Manger Instead of a Mansion Audio

A Night of Miracles

The trip to Bethlehem was a miracle in Micah 5:2
The timing of the birth was a miracle Galatians 4:4-5
The incarnation was a miracle John 1:14

Have you ever wondered why Christ was laid in a manger?

Why not a Mansion?

There a three reasons why!  read Luke 2:7

The Manger perfectly pictures His Rejection

There was room for business in the inn.
there was room for pleasure in the inn.
There was room for others in the inn.
But there was no room for Him in this inn.
In John 1: 1-14 John gives us the amazing rejection message!
read John 1:1 The Word was God
read John 1:3 The Word was the Creator
read John 1:10 The World was made by the Word
read John 1:10 The World knew Him not
read John 1:14 Christ is the Word

The world is still rejecting Him today!

People need to stop rejecting Jesus and start receiving Him.

The Manger perfectly pictures His Redemption

There were two signs given to the shepherds by the angels
Wrapped in swaddling clothes
Lying in a manger: This is a feeding trough for the animals, and He was put in this the Lamb of God. What a rejection for Him

John the Baptist called Jesus the Lamb of God read John 1:29

It wasn´t far from the manger to the cross.

We tend to forget about the cross at this time of year.

If we look in Galatians 4:4-5 we can see Paul´s description of the birth tied to the cross.
"But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons."

The Lamb of God is spoken of in Revelation:

read Revelation 5:9-14, 7:10-17, 15:3, 17:14, 19:7.

The Manger Perfectly Pictures His Reachability

the first announcement of His birth was to the shepherds in a field.
God chose the manger instead of a mansion!
And He receives all who come to Him read John 6:37

All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me, and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out. All can come to Him!

The Rich   The Poor
The healthy   The sick
The strong   The weak
The educated   The uneducated
read  John 3:16

Have you ever really stopped to think what the manger really means to you?

Can you actually see your Saviour in the Manger?

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Revelation 5:14 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

Revelation 7: 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Revelation 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
