Don´t Look Back

Luke 9:62

And Jesus said unto him, no man having put his hand to the plow, and looking back is fit for the Kingdom of God.

Someone once said "Don´t look back something maybe gaining on you."
God´s word is telling us not to look back.

Looking back maybe making you depressed.
Looking back maybe bringing you defeat.

We can look at ourselves and the Church in two ways to view this event?

We can look back and wonder all kinds of things?

We can concentrate on the good things.
We can concentrate on the not so good things.
OR.

We can look forward to a wonderful future anticipating new and great things from the Lord.

I´ve come up with five Don´t Look Back At´s that would damage us personally and as a Church.

Don´t Look Back at Sins that have been Forgiven.

read 1 John 1:7-9 guarantees forgiveness of all sins.
God really does put our sins away. Psalms 103:12
Maybe you believe this for others, but are having a hard time believing it for yourself.
God has put away all sins, even our worst ones.

Don´t Look Back at Defeats that get you down!

All of us have had defeats or failures in our lives.
And the only ones that are free from any failures are those who have never attempted anything. read Psalms 37:23-24 says
Don´t allow failing to make you feel you are a failure.

Don´t Look Back at the Past and See it Better than it Was!

read Ecclesiastes 7:10
A good example is the Israelites wanted to return to Egypt rather than face the future.
I had the privilege to hear one of God´s anointed preachers before he went on to be with the Lord this was Vance Havner.
He said "The present is never as good as it used to be." is a yearning for the good old days.
Listen
A great future beats a great past every time.

Don´t Look Back at Old Conflicts that Make You Bitter!

If you rehearse old conflicts the hurts returns, rehashing these opens old wounds.
Even those where forgiveness has taken place will become dangerous again if you keep going over them!   read  1 Peter 2:1-2

Don´t Look Back at Old Victories that may cause you to think you have arrived!  read  Philippians 3:13-14

This is the primary message of Philippians 3:13-14

I served the Lord with all my heart    ONCE.
I was a soul winner    ONCE.
I was sold out to Christ    ONCE.

Question is    What about Today?

Look up!  Hebrews 12:1-2
Look on the fields that are ripe for harvest. And in caring for others you will forget your past.
Look Ahead! The best is yet to come!
