The Joy of Salvation

Psalms 51:10-13

What we have in these verses is a man getting right with God.
He is baring his heart after an encounter with failure.

It is also a psalm of the King.
David is a leader politically, spiritually and even musically.

We can also identify with these verses because we also fail  fall short  sin!

I want us to look at one statement in these verses and focus on that word.

The word Restore

This word in Psalms 12 indicates three things.

David Had Known The Joy of Salvation

"Restore" indicates he has possessed it before.
If we search Psalms we see that truth.
read  Psalms 9:1 I will praise thee
read  Psalms 21:1 The King shall joy in thy strength.
read  Psalms 23:5 My cup runneth over.
read  Psalms 34:1I will bless the Lord at all times.

There is good reason for this joy.

The joy of forgiveness
The joy of assurance of heaven
The joy of the presence of the Lord
The joy of finding the answer to life

This joy is available to all of us through the Gospel!

David Lost The Joy of Salvation

The word restore also indicates that he does not have it right now.
You know David has a lot of company.
Many folks are filled with gloom, who were once filled with glory.
Many are burdened who once were blessed.
Many are sour, who once were filled with song.
Many are pouting, who once were praising.
David sinned he had an affair with Bathsheba.
Sin robbed David of his joy.
The song is gone!
Many can examine themselves and remember a better day.

David Longed to Have The Joy of His Salvation Restored

Restore was part of his prayer to get back what he had lost.
David wants his joy back again!
So what´s the road back?
How do we have our joy restored after falling flat on our face in sin?
It is a road of remembering; remember how it was when you had joy
It is a road of confession; if we confess our faults before God, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.
It is a road of faith; We must believe God has forgiven us of our sins and has cleansed us of all unrighteousness

Have you lost that joy?
That song in your heart?
Do you long for that joy again?
You can have it!

Read Psalms 32, listen to this psalm also from King David see the difference!
"Blessed is the man whose transgression is forgiven"

Have You Been Forgiven?
Your joy will return as you return to your Lord confessing your sins!

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

Psalms 32:1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.
4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5 I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.
