Signs of a Spiritual Infant

1 Corinthians 3:1-4

We discovered we must be born again    We also discovered that God´s plan is Birth, Growth, Maturity

In the physical life we see this principle applied in our children, We expect our children to grow and develop.
We see they get all the love, nurturing, trips to the Doctors Office. But in so many lives today Christian Life´s  spiritual growth is neglected  So many remain infants for many years.

This is what happened to the Corinthians, they had not grown Spiritually.

Read 1 Corinthians 3:1-2

How can we recognize a Spiritual Infant?

First of all, the Spiritual Infant is concerned with self rather than service.
Compare a Spiritual Infant with a baby,   There is great excitement when a baby is born.
When a person is born again, there is great excitement in Heaven as well as on Earth, all attention is on the new believer.
Same with a baby all eyes on the baby. The baby gets accustomed to all this attention.
We pamper the baby and the results are we wind up walking the floor all night.
A baby gets upset over the smallest things.
Some Christians have to be handled with kid gloves.
They wear their feelings on their sleeves.
They are like time bombs.
At Church extra nice,  but at home explosive.
At Church she´s ideal,  but at home impossible.
At Church he´s always praising,  at home pouting.
At Church he*acute;s Mr. Goody 2 shoes,  at home Mr. Grouch.
At Church she´s an example,  but at home exasperating

The baby is a receiver not a giver

A spiritual infant examines everything as a receiver.
Always fussing over their rights.

The Spiritual Infant is concerned with argument rather than action

read  Read 1 Corinthians 3:3
Envying, strife, divisions are his occupations, probably the most under estimated sin in our life´s is strife.

Read the following Scriptures

Galatians 5:19-21

Philippians 1:27 and 2:1-4

Colossians 3:8-13

1 Thessalonians 3:12

2 Thessalonians 1:3-4

Have you ever watched children fight?

We find it easier to grumble than to go.
Easier to argue than to act!

The last thing we see the Spiritual Infant looks to people rather than to the Master

Read 1 Corinthians 3:4  In our scripture it says "I am of Paul"    Looking to Man
In a baby´s world we have Mom, Dad and the baby sitter,  If Mom and Dad don´t respond to its needs he screams and hollers,   The Spiritual Infant looks to Human Resources;
Maybe the person who led him to Christ.
The Evangelist or Pastor who preached that special message.
He or she will travel miles to hear a singer, a Preacher, a special program, but won´t get to an evening service or prayer meeting that is just a few blocks away!
SO!

What does the Spiritual Infant Need?

To Look to Christ   For all our help and needs in this life, and not to rely on people!
To Begin Building   A new relationship with Christ, and start to listen to Him!
To Remember the Judgement Seat of Christ   That without Christ in our hearts and lives, that we will have Eternity separated from Him!

I Think it´s Time We All Grew Up!

And started to listen to Christ, looking to Him and not other people for our needs, get into reading more of His Word Bible, telling people more of His Salvation and Love.
Letting Christ work through us and doing His work.

1 Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness.
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.

Philippians 2:1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies.
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds.
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.
11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor un circumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering.
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
