We have learned that the Christian life consists of Birth, Growth and Maturity, as Christians, our goal is Spiritual Maturity.
What must I forsake if I am to become a Mature Christian?
When we were kids we probably had a favorite toy.Like a little girl may have a favorite doll.
A little boy may have a favorite blanket or teddy bear.
It is natural for us to put these things away as we mature.
read 1 Corinthians 13:11 Paul says When I became a man I put away childish things.
According to Paul, some childish things are envy, strife, divisions, Peter agrees in our scripture today, put away; means lay aside, All malice, bitterness, wrong feelings toward one another.
Guile: Disposition to Hypocrisy.
Hypocrisy: The act lived out.
Envy: Is tormented with another´s good.
All evil speaking: Slanderings, gossip.
On what must I feed if I am to become a Mature Christian read 1 Peter 2:2 As new born babies desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow by.
We need proper food for proper growth, What are you feeding your mind?
- Your Heart?
- Your Soul?
We are effected by what we take in! There are some things that we feed on is harmful to our Spiritual growth.
Much of our reading material.A large percentage of today´s TV programs.
Profanity
Bedroom Scenes
Unmarried´s living together, Homosexuality promoted as natural
Violence
We´ve got to reprogram, but God´s Word develops spiritual growth.
The key is the Word desire we need to have an eager longing, just like a hungry baby.
Thing is, We have to have to cultivate a desire/hunger for the Bible, as a baby hungers for milk.We expect God to just drop all this in our spirit, but we must desire it.
Who must I follow if I am to become a Mature Christian
Read 1 Peter 2:21I believe as kids we probably all had heroes. It´s a part of every childhood.
A young Christian may idolize the person who led him to Christ
a certain musician
Evangelist
Question I am asking you is who do you follow? Keep your eyes on Jesus! Don´t Look to any Person "Turn your eyes upon Jesus look full into His wonderful face and the things of Earth shall grow strangely dim, in the light of His Glory and Grace."
Are you still hanging on to those childish attitudes of Envy, Strife, Divisions?
Are you feeding on the Word of God every day?
Are you growing and learning from life´s ups and downs?
Are you still moaning and groaning and belly aching at your problems.
Come on Let´s get Growing!
Start to following God and reading His Word, and learning what He wants you to do to help and make you grow in Christ.
