How The Foolish Talk

first read: Job 2:9-10

Most of us can remember Job´s wife by her comment to Job Curse God and Die.
We judge her as a woman of little faith, a woman bent on turning Job away from God.
Meaning she wasn´t very close to God herself.
Maybe we need to look at her just a little closer and maybe we will see ourselves in her? Scary Thought!

We know that Job´s wife

Was married to a good Godly man.
She bore 10 children.
We know she told Job to Curse God.
What she said wasn´t good but!
Consider now, how she must have been suffering along with her husband.
This sounds like the reaction of a depressed woman?

Does that sound familiar?

Job answers his wife by saying:  As one of the foolish women.

Let´s look at 3 foolish things!

It is foolish to claim any excuse for not being faithful

read Job 2:9

Dost thou still retain thine integrity?

Job´s wife thought Job had good reason to rebel; his prosperity, his children, his wealth were all gone!
Through all of this Job proved he did not serve God for gain!
If we look at our suffering compared to Christ´s suffering.

We see that:

Our sacrifice doesn´t ever come close to His!
Our persecution doesn´t compare to His!
We have no excuse for being unfaithful!
It is foolish to think God, has no further use for us!

We have the tendency at first to throw in the towel and say What´s the Use!

feeling sorry for yourself,
pity party, belly aching
This is Satan´s plan he uses despair & depression to keep us from trusting in God!

God wants to use you for His glory!

So you think to yourself?   What you are really saying!
Too Tired? you think to yourself I am to tired had a long day at work, etc
Too Shy? You think to yourself that you are not able to talk not good with words or talking to others stay to yourself.
Too Old? You are never to old to talk to others about Salvation! or do work for God!
God used Job´s suffering as an example of patience.
His faith is still challenging us today!
Are you more like Job´s wife or more like Job?

It is foolish to forget the goodness of God when trouble comes

Look at Job´s wise reply in verse 10
New American Standard Version:
verse 10 But he said to her, you speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and not accept adversity? In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
No passing pain can compare to his goodness.

Just think about how good God has been to you!

His Love! He sent His only Son to die for us!
His Salvation! Through Jesus´s death we get salvation!
His Provision & Protection
His promises for the future Philippians 4:8.

A wise man said once; Never question in the dark, What God gave you
in the light!

If we know the enemies tricks and schemes, we can defeat him.
Satan will tempt with foolish questions.
He will try to drive us to foolish conclusions
He will urge us to foolish actions.

Just remember who´s you are!

Job knew Job 19:25
For I know that my redeemer liveth.
Job also knew the second part of the same verse;
And that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.
He knew the future was bright in spite of his suffering.
Understand what God is saying to us!
We can rest our future in the wonderful hands of Christ.

God has not brought us this far to leave us!

He will never leave us or forsake us!
