Commitment

Philippians 3:7-14

Paul, a man committed to Christ

How would you like to have your life compared to Paul´s?

How does your commitment compare to Paul´s?

I want you to compare your commitment to Christ by asking 5 tough questions!

What Have You been Willing to Count
but Lose for Christ?

Read Philippians 3:7   But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ!
In other words, everything was nothing compared to Christ.
What is unimportant to you for Christ´s sake?
  • Your Planned Career? By getting that big Promotion, or moving to a new area
  • Your Money Making? Job
  • Your Social Life? Dating, going to clubs with friends, parties, etc

What really Has Priority In Your Life?

What Have You been Unwilling to Count but Loss For Christ?

Read Philippians 3:8 I count all things but loss for Christ.
Here´s a quote by George Muller "Giving is not measured by what you surrender to Christ but by what you with hold."

The same for dedication or Commitment.

What you hold back from Christ measures your commitment

Read Romans 12:1

How Long has it Been Since You Measured
Your Growth In Christ?

Read Philippians 3:12 New American Standard Bible
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
"Not that I have already obtained" Paul is not talking about salvation here.
This has to do with Christian Growth.
Just think about all Paul has already obtained
  • Many converts
  • Churches started
With all of that he still wasn´t satisfied, he wanted to be closer to Jesus!
Can you think about a time that you were closer to Jesus than you are now?

What a powerful question!

things come into our lives to distract us from following and hearing God.

Are You Harboring Grudges that Hinder
Your Service for Christ?

Read Philippians 3:13
Forgetting those things which are behind you, and moving forward to follow Christ.

In Other Words we Should Not Remember
What God has Forgotten

Old Barriers Between Believers Have To Come Down

We´ve Got To Stop Grieving The Holy Spirit

Read Ephesians 4:30-32
The Spirit is grieved when we do not forgive others.
We can forgive because Christ has forgiven us!

Are You Ready for the Return of Christ?

Read Philippians 3:14
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Paul was known for using athletics as a means to teach a lesson of life.

In this scripture he is

  • Reaching forth to follow Christ by giving up things that he wanted to do, not relying upon himself, but letting God work in him.
  • Expecting the prize he pressed forward for the high calling of God in Christ Jesus

When will this prize be presented?

  • At the high calling of Christ
  • Paul lived each day awaiting this call

What If Christ Should Return Today?

Would you be ready?

Have you pressed for the mark?

SO!

How Does Your Commitment Compare to Paul´s?

God Will Use Believers Totally Committed to Christ!

Philippians 3:7-14 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.
10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.
11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
