A Time To Build

Acts 14:19-23

An Exciting Time To Be A Part Of This Church

A church where people love one another
A church that has known past blessings
A church in an area where many need Christ

Time To Look Ahead With Confidence

A time to expect the best
A time to build for the future

How Shall We Build?   Acts 14:19

Let Us Build Through Evangelism

read Acts 14:19-21

Paul was stoned and believed to be dead

  1. The disciples gather around his body
  2. He rises and surprises them
  3. Let the world know we are alive

Paul heads for Derbe to reach souls

  1. This was the purpose of his life   1 Corinthians 9:16
  2. This was what made him a missionary
  3. This was why he founded so many churches

Evangelism is vital to our existence as a church

  • Let us bring in people to hear the Gospel
  • Let us be living messengers of the Gospel
  • Let us always preach the Gospel   Mark 16:15

Let Us Build Through Exhortation

read Acts 14:21-22

To exhort is to encourage

Paul taught those who received the Gospel

He encouraged all believers to greater faith

  1. Let´s encourage those who are discouraged
  2. Let´s encourage those who feel like giving up
  3. Let´s encourage our own families
  4. Let´s encourage those in leadership
  5. Let´s encourage all in the family of faith

Be encouraged and be an encourager

Let Us Build Through Edification

read Acts 14:23

To edify is to build up

Some specialize in tearing down

Refuse to be a part of their wrecking crew
Be a builder, not a destroyer

Paul Building up believers

  1. Organizing the churches
  2. Giving responsibilities to leaders
  3. Praying with and for those he won to Christ

Conclusion

A Great Year To Build

Here are the materials needed: Evangelism, Exhortation, Edification

Let Us Rise Up And Build.

Acts 14:19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.
