Astrology

The Bible(NIV) speaks of astrologers in the Book of Daniel.

The Bible NASB  translates these same words as conjurers.  The difference stems from the fact that these words appear only here in the Bible and their meaning is uncertain.
All we really know is that the astrologer/conjurer is linked in the context with magicians and sorcerers.
The specific practices they followed are uncertain.

Both the NIV and the NASB, however, translate the Hebrew for diviners of the heavens   Isiah 47:13.  as astrologers.

Does the Bible make any definite statement about the modern practice of astrology?
Today many believe that the position of the stars at a person´s birth influences his or her life.
By daily consulting the current position of the stars, believers in astrology expect to find guidance for the decisions they must make and to gain insight into their future.

While there may be no specific biblical prohibition of astrology as such, Scripture does prohibit God´s people from looking to any source but the Lord himself for personal guidance.
Deuteronomy 18 calls all such practices detestable. The people of Israel were reminded that God himself had spoken to them and had pledged to continue to speak through prophets he would send   Deuteronomy18:10-20.

There are a number of ways through which God is able to lead believers today.
These include the completed Word of God, the indwelling Holy Spirit, the insights of other Christians, circumstances, and the proper use of our renewed minds   Romans12:2.
These sources provide all the guidance we need.
To turn to astrology is to insult the living Lord and to reject the guidance he has provided.

Isaiah 47:13 All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you.
14 Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. Here are no coals to warm anyone; here is no fire to sit by.
15 That is all they can do for you these you have labored with and trafficked with since childhood. Each of them goes on in his error; there is not one that can save you.

Deuteronomy 18:10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,
11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.
12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.
13 You must be blameless before the Lord your God.
14 The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so.
15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.
16 For this is what you asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, "Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die."
17 The Lord said to me: What they say is good.
18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.
19 If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.
20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God´s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will.
